What's on our doorstep?
We are about 1.5 miles to the centre of the historic town of Fraserburgh, which has Scotland’s oldest mainland lighthouse with a lighthouse museum, a heritage centre, a gorgeous sandy beach lined with dunes which is also popular with surfers, leisure centre with swimming pool, a working harbour, and a good range of shops, restaurants and cafes.
Opposite our cottage is the coastal cycle path/footpath, heading into Fraserburgh or along to the small harbour villages of Sandhaven, Pitullie and Rosehearty. Overlooking the coast along the route are the two ruined castles of Pitullie and Pitsligo.
Just 1/4 mile stroll takes you to our nearest supermarket and takeaway.
We’re on the NE250 route which includes the beautiful Moray Firth coastline, the snow roads of the Cairngorms, the distilleries of Speyside, and the many castles and historic harbours or the area. With Inverness about 100 miles away, we’re well placed as a stopping place on your travels around Scotland, and using this route can also be a lovely way of heading up to join the NC500.
